The Delaware Lottery

The Delaware State Lottery was established in 1974 when the General Assembly of the state-approved the legislation. In 1976, Delaware Lottery scratch games came about. The 1990s were quite eventful for the state games․ With the introduction of Lotto America in 1991, Powerball in 1992, and Video Lottery in 1994, the games expanded and gained even more traction. Delaware Lottery introduced newer games throughout the 2000s. Multi-Win Lotto started in 2005, followed by Hot Lotto, which closed in 2017.

In 2010, Mega Millions came to the state. In the meantime, casino table games started gaining popularity everywhere. Because of this, their introduction to the Lottery Delaware family was appropriate.

As in many other states, part of the game revenue goes to the General Fund of Delaware. The fund then spends the budget to improve state areas, allocates money for social services, safety, and public health. Almost $6 billion has entered the state fund since 1975.
